About

Pluk Šťastných Dechařů

The Regiment of Happy Blowers is a wind orchestra founded in 2009 by Czech bassoonist Svatopluk Št'astný at the Lounsky Music School in Prague. Svatopluk Št'astný took the position of conductor and artistic director of the ensemble from the beginning. Since its foundation, the orchestra's membership has grown more than fourfold. Over the years, the musical direction of the ensemble has also expanded and changed considerably. While in the first years of its existence the orchestra concentrated exclusively on Czech marches, in the following years it gradually expanded its repertoire to include arrangements of Czech folk compositions, several pieces of classical symphonic repertoire, film music, and finally to focus on works composed directly for wind orchestras. The orchestra regularly performs several times a year in concerts around the Czech Republic, especially in Prague and Beroun. These are usually thematically focused. In the relatively short time of its existence, the ensemble has taken part in several different national and international competitions, where it has always managed to place at the top.
